Stefan first began weight training in 2001 at the age of 17. At that time he was a senior in high school and he was the captain of his basketball team so he was working out in his basement to get stronger. After high school Stefan continued playing basketball for a while and eventually made the state team. However early into the season he was suffering from severe and recurring patella tendinitis and was forced to stop playing.
That’s when Stefan watched pumping iron for the first time and became fascinated with building his body. At that time Stefan hadn’t really considered bodybuilding as a sport. When he saw the power, determination, artistry, and grace that these bodybuilders possessed he was instantly hooked.
Stefan began reading everything relating to bodybuilding he could get his hands on and quickly began to transform his body. Shortly after he was able to start translating these results onto his clients and quickly developed a reputation as one if the top trainers in his gym.
In 2012 Stefan decided to enter his first natural bodybuilding competition at the INBA Nationals under the guidance of Canadian contest prep coach Francine Savard and placed 3rd.
Since then Stefan has competed in numerous shows under the guidance of some of the top contest prep coaches in the world including IFBB Pro Milos Sarcev, IFBB Pro Larry Vinette, and world renowned strength coach Charles Poliquin.
In 2014 and 2015 Stefan tried his luck in the IFBB Men's Physique division, including the first ever Arnold Classic Contest held in Australia, but didn't get a placing either time.
So in 2016 Stefan returned to bodybuilding after a 2 year absence. This time he did his own prep entirely based on everything he had learned over the last several years and he went on to win the over 90kg division at the ANB Oceana International in Sydney, which qualified him to compete at the ANB Universe International in the Philippines 3 weeks later, where he placed second.
